Christmas season 2012 ITV1 got behind a major new charity initiative and entertainment event rasing £4.2 million for good causes.
Text Santa culminated in two entertainment spectaculars with major names from tv, music and showbusiness
on ITV1 – the one hour launch show kicked off at 9:30pm on Sunday 11th December with the finale taking place live
on Christmas Eve at 7:30 for a 2.5 hour extravaganza of entertainment and helping great charities.
Viewers could help those in need by a simple text donation from their phone to the Text Santa charities.
The good causes involved were Carers UK, Crisis, Help the Hospices, the Samaritans, WRVS and children's
hospital charities Great Ormond Street Hospital Children's Charity, Noah's Ark Appeal, Helping Hand and
Yorkhill Children's Foundation.
To donate simply text SANTA1 to 70070 to give £1, SANTA5 to give £5 or SANTA10 to give £10. 100% of the money
goes to charities.
