All Star Cup
The star-studded golf extravaganza, The Northern Rock All*Star Cup, returned to The Celtic Manor
Resort in South Wales August 2006 for another celebrity three-day golf tournament.
The tournament took place from 26th to 28th August and was broadcast on ITV across the Bank holiday
weekend, with Ant and Dec taking up the role of hosting the live coverage.
The three-day tournament boasted an amazing line-up of Hollywood A-listers against a team of famous
Europeans, who will were defending their title and were once again captained by Europe's top
professional golfer, Colin Montgomerie.
The previous 2005 event saw Zeta-Jones pitched against her husband, film star Michael Douglas, in
the American team, which also fielded Dallas actor Patrick Duffy, former Charlie's Angel Cheryl Ladd,
Rob Lowe and Mark Spitz.
Ant said: “We're really looking forward to hosting All*Star Cup this August. The tournament promises
to be even bigger and better than last year. I'm sure they'll be really strong rivalry between the
US and the Europeans once again.”
Dec added: “Last year was great because both teams took it really seriously. We had a nail biting
finish with team Europe winning at the last hole by the narrowest of margins – only two points - so
there really is everything to play for in the re-match!”
