Friday Night is Music Night
BBC Radio 2 is the home of the world's longest-running live music programme. The Christmas
special broadcast on Radio 2 at 8pm on December 24th 2010 celebrating the 80th anniversary of the
birth of composer Lionel Bart with the BBC Concert Orchestra.
Recorded at London's Hackney Empire, the tribute to Lionel Bart was hosted by Barbara Windsor, over
the two hour show performances from Russ Abbott, Emma Barton, Bernard Cribbins, Kerry Ellis,
Lee Mead, Bradley Walsh, Samantha Womack and Capital Voices.
The show featured songs from Lionel Bart's best loved shows including 'Oliver' and 'Maggie May'. Also
Lee Mead performing 'From Russia with Love', 'A Handful of Songs', 'Happy Endings' and a couple of songs from
'Twang', and 'Blitz'.
